The new Vascular Service was opened in May 1994, in response to the ever growing needs of the population served by the A.H.M.C.This population size increased dramatically over the last few years as a major portion of the Russian immigrants settled in the area. Combined with the natural growth of the nearby Arabic population, a large army base and the general aging of the population, the need for a Center for Vascular Diseases became inevitable, and a decision was made by the hospital administration to open the Center despite the economical difficulties.
The Vascular center is located in the new Aliza Begin building. It consists of 15 hospital beds for in-patient hospitalization, a non invasive Vascular laboratory, an outpatients clinic facility, a special venous and lymphatic clinic and a research laboratory.Since the new center started its activities about a year ago, more than 800
operations have been performed, among them some rare and complicated arterial venous and lymphatic reconstructions. More than 3000 patients visited the outpatients clinic and more than 1000 examinations were performed in the non invasive laboratory.
